Stage 3 & planning support -
Fountain Court, is a housing redevelopment project replacing outdated accommodation with modern, affordable homes designed to meet today’s standards of comfort and efficiency. The scheme required compliance with Cornwall Council’s Climate Emergency planning policy, including the delivery of a Passivhaus Assessment to demonstrate best-practice in low-energy design. Design Foundry have been engaged to develop a coordinated MEP strategy that supports these stringent requirements while balancing the technical challenges of a dense residential site. Our role has spanned from early-stage design input through to technical proposals, ensuring that building services are fully aligned with the Council’s climate commitments and the long-term wellbeing of future residents.

Early-stage assessment of the building’s energy performance was critical to the success of the project. By carefully reviewing the thermal efficiency of the proposed fabric from the outset, we were able to demonstrate compliance with Cornwall Council’s ambitious Climate Emergency planning requirements. This proactive approach not only ensured that the design could meet the Passivhaus assessment criteria, but also laid the foundations for a building that will deliver long-term energy efficiency, resident comfort, and reduced environmental impact.
