    Our Role
    Stage 4 & planning support

  • The Laceworks is a redevelopment of a former Grade II listed lace factory, transforming a site of historic importance into high-quality affordable housing. The project required sensitive integration of modern building services within the heritage fabric, preserving its character while meeting contemporary standards of comfort and energy efficiency.

Design Foundry were engaged to develop a coordinated MEP strategy that addressed these demands. From early energy and thermal performance reviews through to detailed design proposals, our work ensured building services could be discreetly integrated without compromising the historic setting. The outcome is a scheme that carefully balances conservation with long-term sustainability, safeguarding the building’s legacy while delivering efficient, comfortable homes.

  • Detailed coordination of external services was a critical element of the scheme, requiring careful planning to ensure alignment with LiveWest’s metering strategy. By addressing these requirements at an early stage, we were able to provide a clear and efficient services layout that supports both the operational needs of the landlord and the long-term usability for residents.
