    Our Role
    Stage 3 & technical design

  • To develop a sensitive and integrated MEP strategy that complements Sherborne House’s historic architecture while achieving ambitious low-carbon and energy efficiency targets.

Sherborne House is a landmark building in Newton Abbot, being restored and transformed into a modern community asset. Teignbridge District Council, working with SE3Design Architects, is leading this project to breathe new life into the historic structure while embedding future-ready sustainability measures.

Design Foundry has been engaged to develop a coordinated MEP strategy that carefully integrates low-carbon building services within a sensitive heritage context. Our work ensures the project not only preserves Sherborne House’s character but also sets new standards for performance and energy efficiency.

  • Early-stage assessment of the building’s fabric and energy strategy was key to achieving the project’s low-carbon ambitions. By adopting a fabric-first approach to Passivhaus standards and integrating PVs on the roof, we’ve dramatically reduced operational energy demand while ensuring comfort and resilience. This proactive approach lays the groundwork for a building that honours its past but performs for the future - delivering reduced carbon emissions, lower running costs and improved user experience.
