    Our Role
Complete MEP design for a new purpose built crematorium set within woodland.

  • Tamar Valley Crematorium, set in the woodland north of Plymouth, was designed to provide a serene, dignified space for local communities while blending with the surrounding landscape. Drawing on local materials such as Yennadon stone and English larch, the architecture reflects the character of traditional agricultural buildings.

Design Foundry’s role was to deliver holistic MEP design solutions that supported the architectural vision and ensured high-performance, sustainable operation. Key priorities included comfortable and acoustically appropriate ceremony spaces, discreet integration of plant and support services, and long-term operational efficiency. Throughout, we worked closely with the architect, main contractor, and specialist consultants to coordinate services within the sensitive woodland setting.

  • The Tamar Valley Crematorium combines serene, elegant architecture with holistic MEP systems that provide comfort, efficiency, and discretion. Early coordination of services allowed the engineering to integrate seamlessly with the building, while careful planning ensured plant and support systems remained unobtrusive within the woodland setting. Thoughtful system selection and controls support sustainable, reliable operation, helping the facility serve the community effectively for years to come.
